We are proud graduates of Jarvis Christian University formally Jarvis Christian College.

We give financially to Jarvis because we are the productive citizens who have had an illustrious career as Public Servants in the fields of State Government and Education because we received our degrees from this fine institution of higher learning.

The instructors at Jarvis gave us the skills and tools that we needed to matriculate in white universities as we earned our master’s degrees and Post Graduate Work.

As a proud JCU 1970 graduate, I became a High School Principal and Assistant Superintendent earning master’s degrees in Guidance and Counseling, School Management, and the Superintendent Certification. My husband, Henry W. Johnson, class of 1968 earned a master’s degree in Criminal Justice and Public Administration.

Giving back to Jarvis allows students to reap the benefits of a quality education with the type of support that only a HBCU like Jarvis can provide. We see it as touching the future through the youth of our nation. Each generation brings something more and different to the table that helps to make this world a better place.

Henry and I are heavily involved in our community serving in various leadership roles in our Greek letter organizations (Omega Psi Phi and Sigma Gamma Rho) and other civic/community endeavors such as The Links, Incorporated, Jack & Jill of America, Safe Place Battered Women’s Center, Travis County Appraisal District Board, A+Federal Credit Union Board and Wesley United Methodist Church.

Finally, another especially important reason why we give to Jarvis is that we met on the campus in the Summer of 1966 and have been married for 54 years. We have one son and three grandchildren.

Thank You Jarvis Christian University!!
