Academic Scholarships
Jarvis Christian University awards academic scholarships to incoming first-year students. Recipients come from a competitive pool of students based on the academic profile and details submitted in the application. Our scholarship committee considers those who demonstrate strong academic performance and engagement in high school, such as, community service and leadership. All scholarships awarded are last dollar scholarships, meaning they cannot exceed beyond full tuition and fees. Students receiving tuition remission benefits or other awards from the University, or any other source must adhere to this policy.
Freshman Academic Excellence Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to deserving students based on scholastic merit and are considered as part of the first-time freshmen’s financial aid package. The scholarships are renewable at the end of each academic year, for up to three (3) years, as long as the student maintains academic excellence.

Criteria for Academic Excellence Awards
- Scholarships are administered on an annual basis. The applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.00. The scholarship is awarded to first-time freshmen or first-time entering transfer students. An application for an academic scholarship must be on file. The award is automatically renewed, as long as the above requirements have been met during the previous two regular semesters. Scholarship recipients must complete and return the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA Code 003637).
- Scholarships are awarded on an annual basis on the availability of funds. Awards must be obtained during the fall semester, Failure to claim the award during the fall semester will invalidate the scholarship. Students must reside on campus if they are receiving an institutional scholarship, unless there are extenuating circumstances, which must be appropriately documented.
- Scholarships recipients are required to have the appropriate GPA and a written essay on “Why Attending Jarvis Is Important to Me?” Should a student demonstrate academic excellence without having the required GPA, he/she may still apply for the scholarship, but must submit additional documentation of why they should receive the academic scholarship, along with a written essay of video referencing the above topic.
- Academic scholarship awards are contingent upon the required cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above and the enrollment in a minimum of 15 hours per semester. The student’s academic performance will be evaluated at the end of each academic year to ensure that the student continues to meet the GPA requirements. Students must remain in good academic standing and be good citizens of the University to maintain scholarships. Additionally, dismissal from the University for any reason will invalidate the scholarship.
- Should a student’s GPA drop below the original scholarship level, the scholarships will be adjusted to the appropriate GPA Scholarship Award. For example, should a student enter Jarvis with a GPA of 4.0 and for some reason, the following year the student’s cumulative GPA is in the range of 3.0 to 3.39, the University reserves the right to reduce the scholarship amount to the appropriate level. If the recipient drops below a 3.0, he/she will lose all scholarship benefits.
- Institutional aid must not exceed 60% of the cost of tuition/fees and room and board. However, private/funded scholarships may be available to those who are eligible with the understanding that the total financial aid package cannot exceed the student’s cost of attendance.
